A Moment in Hockey 🏒

Player of the game in the biggest win of the season.

Sunday afternoon, high stakes matchup between a AAA team and prep school team.

Same teams played less than 24 hours before in a 5-2 W for AAA team.

Due to injuries, AAA team is down a few guys for the game.

Said player has been playing any role coaches would like him to play. Defense, Offense. Back and forth as needed. Truly a role player and very valuable to the team.

Anyway.

AAA team down 3-0 early. 3-1. 4-1. AAA team gets a 5 minute player advantage. Ties the game 4-4. Second period ends. Ice cut.

First shift of 3rd period, prep team scores. 5-4.

Said player is playing a regular shift. Good stuff. Things to work on.

AAA team ties the game. 5-5.

Said player is personally struggling on a couple shifts. Visibly upset with himself.

Teammates notice. They temporarily ignore the game at hand to lift up said player.

“Get back out there. You got the next one.”

Said player gets the call for his next shift.

Offensive zone faceoff. Puck goes to the point.

Shot. Goal. Celebration.

AAA team goes on to win the game, in a thrilling fashion, 6-5.

Player of the game – Said Player.

Hockey is a game of mistakes, emotions, ups and downs. You never know when the next play may be the one that makes the game.

Keep your head up. Keep playing. Keep fighting.
